School Council

St. Gabriel’s School Council is made up of a group of children that are elected by their class peers to represent views of all pupils and to improve their school. Every year, each class elects 2 representatives to be members of the school council. The council then meets to elect officers such as Chair and Secretary.

The School Council meets once a fortnight and discusses points raised in class council sessions that take place before the main meeting. The pupils have their say on how their school is run and determine what issues are important within their school and wider community. Two council representatives from each school in the Belgrave Learning Network meet termly to discuss wider topics.

To date the children have successfully organised Anti-Bullying days, raised money for a variety of charities including the NSPCC, worked in conjunction with the Eco Warriors to design a school garden, recruited pupils as Peer Supporters and Sports Leaders and built a shed to store PE equipment.
