Our Mission Statement

St. Gabriel’s is a welcoming school where:

We pray together, care for each other and learn together
We feel safe and respected
We try to do our best
Everyone is treated fairly
We have fun with our friends
With Jesus Christ at the heart of our loving Catholic community

Headteachers Welcome

Thank you for visiting our school website! On behalf of our children, staff and governors welcome to St Gabriel’s.

St Gabriel’s is a two-form entry Catholic Primary School in Tamworth, Staffordshire. We are part of the vibrant parish of St John the Baptist and the Sacred Heart.

St Gabriel’s vision and ethos is to be a welcoming school where all are known and cherished – a school community which has Jesus Christ as it’s loving heart.  As our Mission Statement says we are a community which prays, cares and learns together.

We welcome children from the Catholic faith, other faiths and from families of no denomination.

Our children are at the heart of everything we do. Every child is a gift and unique and we work hard to get to know and understand the needs of each child. We strive to have high expectations for all our children – in their learning and conduct. Our curriculum, teaching and learning provision, learning environments and our Catholic Life are all focused on supporting our children to achieve their full potential in everything they do – in their work, friendships, extra-curricular activities and their spiritual development.

As a Catholic school, our faith is our driving motivation and our most important anchor. We firmly believe that every member of our community is a Child of God and is, therefore, always deserving of respect, love and understanding. Our link with our Parish community is extremely important to us – members of the parish team frequently visit school and we support and promote parish events as much as possible.

We hope you enjoy visiting our school website. We also enjoy welcoming visits to the school – should you be interested in arranging a visit, please do contact our school office to make an appointment.

Jubilee Mass at LKichfield Cathedral - 16th June 2025

On Monday 16th June, over 500 primary school children from across the Walsall and Lichfield Deanery took part in a Jubilee Mass at Lichfield Cathedral. St Gabriel’s was represented by our Year Four children.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Timothy Menezes along with priests and deacons from the different parishes from within the Deanery.

To link with the Jubilee theme of pilgrimage, schools arrived at different points around Lichfield and then processed down and gathered at the Cathedral.

Children from the primary schools helped to lead the readings, singing, offertory and altar serving during the Mass, giving them all a wonderful opportunity to work alongside children from other local Catholic primary schools.

During the Mass, Jubilee hymns and music – supported by Joy Boyce and her team – were sung. The hymns celebrated the themes of welcome, hope, love and joy.

The Mass, and indeed the whole experience, was a beautifully prayer, joy and hope-filled occasion for everyone involved. Hearing the Cathedral filled with the sound of all the different schools singing, but then also the moments of prayerful silence was incredible.

The whole day took lots of careful planning –from school staff and also from a wonderful team of volunteers from across the Deanery – many of whom were able to join with the children on the day.

The children all left the Cathedral inspired to continue their journey through the Jubilee Year as active Pilgrims and signs of hope for the world around us.
