Friends of St. Gabriel's

Friends of St. Gabriel’s

The Friends of St Gabriel’s is an integral part of St Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School.

Our primary focus is on raising funds, but we never lose sight of the importance of togetherness and community within our school, and the Friends strive to keep that at the heart of what we do.

Each year the Friends organise a number of events, from school discos to fayres at Christmas and in the summer. Some of these are primarily fundraisers, others are simply a way to get together and enjoy time with fellow parents and friends of the school. We’re also there providing refreshments at many of the school events.

Funds raised by the Friends have made notable contributions to the school over the years. The signage displayed around school was paid for from the money you help raise as parents through our events. The Friends have also subsidised many of the school trips more recently to help bring down the cost for families. In the last academic year a new reading scheme was purchased by these funds raised.

Every parent and carer is automatically a member of the Friends, simply by virtue of having a child in school. There are no forms to sign, and no application to complete. However we all have busy lives these days so there’s no obligation; we’re strictly a volunteer group that would love you to contribute whatever you can, however you can.

It would be great to see you at the next meeting, but if you can’t make it and there’s something you’d like to raise, discuss or suggest then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. You can send an email to friendsofstgabriels@gmail.com, contact one of the committee members at school or drop a note into the school office for attention of FSG. There is also a Friends of St Gabriel’s Facebook page where further information can be found. Look for @friendsofstgabriels on Facebook and keep up to date.

There are other ways you can help as well. Do you work for a company that “fund matches”? In previous fayres sizeable donations from Lloyds Bank through a parent employee have brought in several hundred pounds through such schemes. Other companies may be able to offer vouchers or prizes for charity. As a registered charity we may be eligible in this way too. Look out for newsletters where we might ask for a donation of items such as chocolate, bottles, toiletries and raffle prizes especially in the run up to big events such as Christmas and summer fayres. All these things contribute to raising vital funds.

Thank you for your support to help enrich the lives of all the children at St Gabriel’s School.

Our current committee line up for 2022/23 is:

Mrs McNamee  chair

Mrs Joesbury   treasurer

Mrs G Devlin  secretary

Meetings take place throughout the school year and are publicised in the school newsletters and via our Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
